Capilla Federico Cantú – Misioneros de Guadalupe

Federico Cantú Garza  - murió un dia como hoy 29 de enero en 1989 Nació el 3 de marzo de 1907, estudió a los 14 años en la Escuela de Pintura al Aire Libre de Coyoacán, y radicó en Europa, entre 1924 y 1934 y Estados Unidos entre 1938-1941. Su estancia en la Grande Chaumière y la Academia Colarossi en París derivó en el tratamiento de temas históricos y religiosos, que desarrolló en algunas de sus obras. Formó parte de la Escuela Mexicana de Pintura, etapa de producción plástica que se dio al concluir la Revolución, en un esfuerzo por reconstruir el tejido social y promover la identidad nacional. Entre 1940 y 1950 realizó obras murales, principalmente a solicitud de particulares, mientras que en la década de 1960 realizó obras públicas entre las que destacan relieves y esculturas para el Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS ) En Marzo de 1957 Federico Cantú cumplía 50 años  Estaba pintando la ( como lo muestra esta foto )  ultima sección de los murale

Federico Cantu 1907-1989 The Magi -  of the Gospel of Matthew. The Star of Bethlehem, or Christmas Star,[appears only in the nativity story of the Gospel of Matthew, where "wise men from the East" (Magi) are inspired by the star to travel to Jerusalem.There they meet King Herod of Judea, and ask, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews?" We have come to pay homage to the newborn king of the Jews. Herod calls his scribes and priests who quote to him that a verse from the Book of Micah interpreted as a prophecy, states that th e Jewish Messiah would be born in Bethlehem to the south of Jerusalem. Secretly intending to find and kill the Messiah in order to preserve his own kingship, Herod invites the wise men to return to him on their way home. The star leads them to Jesus' home in the town, where they worship him and give him gifts. The wise men are then given a divine warning not to return to Herod, so they return home by a different r
